Why did Macdonalds stop supersizing?
Okay, so I realise that the Super Size portion of chips and coke were insanely big, however I remember my skinny little cousin being able to gulf down an order of a Big Mac meal – SUPERSIZED and feel perfectly full (Ew).
The supersizing exit strategy was started in the US as an attempt to simplify its menu and give customers choices that support a balanced lifestyle. Honestly, if people are going to eat that amount of food to start with - they are the ones still going to Macdonalds and ordering a Meal combo and then mini cheeseburgers as an additional order. They have not and will not change the AMOUNT of food they are eating, they will just direct their ordering elsewhere.
And forgive me for questioning the option to elminate the super-size portion, but how does eliminating it lead to Macdonalds promoting a more balanced lifestyle?? The elimination might lead to a limited portion size available, however does Macdonalds really think that people are going to now change their opinion of the fast-food chain and perceive it to be part of a more balanced lifestyle. Why not implement a larger salad range or the option of salad instead of fries?? Why not implement the option of Water instead of Coke for no additional cost? Surely that would be better than eliminating the Super Size option?
