I remember how as kids we played around with our make believe cigarettes, puffing and taking a bite at the same time! Blissfully unaware of actual smoking hazards (as shown on those terrible pictures that cigarette packets have on them in places like Australia and Thailand).
They were made out of chalky sugar, bubblegum or chocolate, wrapped in paper as to resemble cigarettes.
I mean, I can understand why they were removed from the market – they were basically condoning smoking – in the yummiest possible way!
Wow, come to think of it – what a creepy candy idea! I would And the best (or worst) part of the candy, was that when they were introduced to the market, they were packaged as though they were real cigarettes.
Honestly, even though I ate large amounts of these things, I would NEVER have given them to my kids - next thing you know, they’re stealing your cigarettes, hiding behind the bush in the back garden puffing away like it’s the 50s.
~~ Just another fantastic but scary childhood favourite…
I remember these too -thnaks for bringing back good memories of childhood Dom! I think i have those to thank for never smoking – well, hardly ever, first and last time was at 8 years old when a friend & me stole one of his mom’s cigarettes left on the lounge table – tried it, choked like hell, never puffed a cigarette again!
